Finding Eco-Friendly Cars

The more we depend on fossil fuels, the more we are going to find our environment polluted by its effects. We should see change and autos are certainly an area we can focus on. In an effort to to deal with the issue with fuel emissions, manufacturers are beginning to make more vehicles that will not harm the environment.(Visit Another Blog Post: Click The Link)

There are a lot of different types of these eco friendly vehicles, the friendliest being a car that is only powered by battery. A battery powered car does not need any gasoline or diesel at all because it's exclusively powered by electricity from the battery. Even though this looks good from the point of view fuel savings and the effect on the environment, there are disadvantages. Although they are available to the public today, due to being a recent development, the car engines have limitations. After running more or less 100 miles, you have to be ready to charge the battery again.

One other alternative available is a hybrid vehicle. Hybrid cars are eco friendly and they run on both batteries and petrol. You may be thinking, 'How is that done?' Well, I'll share it with you. It is the electricity coming from the battery that is used in the beginning by the car. As the hybrid needs increased power and achieves a particular speed, this is when it starts using petrol. The nice thing about it using gasoline is that it charges the battery up automatically, meaning you don't have to charge the battery yourself using an outside ellectrical source.

There is likewise another kind of autos, called plug-in hybrids. Plug-in hybrids are likewise eco friendly and run similarly to the hybrid vehicles noted above. Do note that the regular hybrid car does not have to be recharged separately whereas this is not the case with the plug-in hybrid. When put side by side with typical cars, you will see that hybrid cars are good for fuel efficiency. A great example of a hybrid vehicle that can give you 50 miles to the gallon is the Prius developed by Toyota. With a price tag approximately $22,000, this has become a hot seller. Toyota is not the only car manufacturer who is selling hybrids, though; Honda developed the 'Insight' and in fact this vehicle was the first hybrid car to be released to consumers. The Honda Insight was not welcomed in the same way as the Prius hybrid by Toyota but it started off the consumer market for hybrids. A top-rated car and priced in the region of $27,000 is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is considered by many as the top hybrid vehicle in the US. A hybrid car which is believed to have no emissions whatsoever is the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi. It was among the first electric autos to be made by a Japanese auto company. There are also plenty of other hybrid and eco friendly cars accessible to consumers, and as we keep on developing improved technologies, more and more efficient cars are developed and are available to buy.
